Prof. Julio Benitez. Degree in medicine from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) in 1978. In 1982, obtained the degree of Doctor in medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (Spain) and the title of specialist in clinical pharmacology in 1983. After a postdoctoral residency under Prof. Folke Sjöqvist at the Department of Clinical Pharmacology of the Karolinska Institute (Huddinge University Hospital in Stockholm, he was appointed Professor in the Department of Pharmacology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Extremadura (Badajoz, Spain) in 1984. He was appointed full Professor of Pharmacology at University of Extremadura in 1993. He is the author of more than 100 research papers published in international journals (mentioned more of 2000 times and factor h = 32) and more than 200 communications to congresses, most of international scope.
Prof. Javier Meana. Graduating in medicine & dentistry (Hons) 1983, Faculty of medicine and dentistry at the University of the Basque country – Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU). In 1990, he was awarded his PhD at the University of the Basque country – Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU). Postdoctoral fellow 1990-1992 Department of Pharmacology of the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm (Sweden). Titular tenured University Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of the Basque Country – Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) from 1992 until 2001. Appointed UPV/EHU Professor of Pharmacology in 2002 where he currently leads the Neuropsico Pharmacology Group in research focuses on mental illness neurobiology such as schizophrenic depression and its response to drug treatments. He is also manages the UPV/EHU‘s the research group attached to the center of biomedical research network in the Area of Mental Health (CIBERSAM), whose activity focuses on translational research.
